# AQUASEE > Strategy. Creative Design. Project Realization. AQUASEE is a China-based service company for tourism, public-space and children’s play projects. It provides three connected capabilities — early-stage consulting, creative design and R&D, and organised supply chain through to delivery. It is not an equipment manufacturer and owns no factories. Website: https://www.aquasee.art Contact: victor@aquasee.art Languages: en, zh, ar, ru ## Capabilities ### Strategy & Consulting — https://www.aquasee.art/strategy AQUASEE Strategy and Consulting is the front end of a project: it turns an ambition into a defined scope, a costed plan, a programme and a set of partners who can build it. It is advisory and hands-on work that continues into design and delivery rather than ending with a document. Covers: Brief & project definition; Feasibility & site readiness; Concept framing; Programme & phasing; Scope & cost planning; Partner strategy. Does not cover: Legal, planning or building-control approval — we prepare the technical basis, a local consultant signs it; Structural or electrical engineering certification — we engage qualified engineers and hold them to the brief; Commercial market research on end-customer demand; Funding, investment or financial modelling. ### Creative Design & R&D — https://www.aquasee.art/creative-design AQUASEE Creative Design and R&D turns an agreed idea into something that can be built, quoted and maintained: concept, design language, buildable drawings, a written technical specification, prototypes where the risk justifies them, and the engineering coordination that lets the item survive contact with a fabricator and a site. Covers: Concept & spatial design; Custom product & fixture design; 3D modelling & visualisation; Material & finish research; Prototype & testing; Technical documentation. Does not cover: Production of the designed item — that sits with our supply chain and delivery capability; Certification of the structure by a local approved inspector; Brand identity, naming or marketing campaigns; Landscape, architectural or interior design of the surrounding site. ### Supply Chain & Delivery — https://www.aquasee.art/supply-chain AQUASEE Supply Chain and Delivery organises how a design becomes a physical asset: selecting and contracting qualified manufacturing partners, controlling quality during production, managing logistics and customs, installing on site around the reality of the venue, and handing over a documented, maintainable result with one accountable party. Covers: Product deconstruction & module design; Make–buy–assemble option modelling; Supplier qualification & comparison; Production management & progress control; Quality inspection & pre-shipment verification; Assembly support & handover. Does not cover: Ownership or operation of manufacturing capacity — production is run by qualified partners under our brief and our inspection; Unlimited revisions after handover — changes are handled as controlled changes with a stated cost; Supply of standard catalogue products at distributor pricing; Local trade labour where the client’s own site team is contracted to carry out installation. ## Delivery models - **Complete delivery** — We take the brief and hand over a finished, commissioned installation. The client signs one contract and accepts one deliverable. Best for: Owners and operators who want a single accountable party and do not want to manage a supply chain themselves. - **Client-assembled kit** — We design and produce a complete kit that your own team assembles on site, with written instructions and a support window. Best for: Clients with an existing facilities or construction team that can carry out installation economically. - **Semi-finished modules** — We produce modules that only need final assembly, fixings and commissioning on site — the heaviest and most awkward work stays in the workshop. Best for: Oversized or site-constrained work, international shipping, or sites where fabrication on site is impractical. ## What drives cost - Whether an item is bespoke or adapted from an existing, proven platform - Material specification and finish — marine-grade and coastal exposure change the bill materially - Tooling: every new mould, jig or fabrication method is a one-off cost that a repeat order would not carry - Engineering hours: structural, electrical and control design, and the drawings that make an item buildable - Prototyping and testing, including load and safety testing where the use case requires it - Logistics: dimensions, weight, packaging and whether the item travels as one piece or several - Site conditions — access, working hours, whether the venue stays open, and how much installation is done in the dark - Commissioning, training, documentation and the support window you buy ## What we do not do - Production is carried out by qualified manufacturing partners — we brief them, inspect at agreed milestones and accept the work. - We do not publish client projects without written authorisation, and we do not present concept work as delivered work. - We do not take on work we believe cannot be delivered responsibly for the budget and programme stated. - We do not provide legal, structural-engineering or certification services; we engage qualified specialists and hold them to the brief. - We do not quote from a concept image alone — we need enough of a specification to be responsible for a price. ## Key questions ### What does AQUASEE do? AQUASEE is a China-based service company that plans, designs and organises the supply chain for tourism, public-space and children’s play projects. It provides three connected capabilities: early-stage consulting to define and scope the work, creative design and R&D to make it buildable, and supply chain management through production, logistics, installation and handover. Production runs through specialist manufacturing partners; one party holds the brief across all three. ### Does AQUASEE manufacture playground or leisure equipment? No — and that is the useful part. A factory quote covers the manufacture; everything around it — the parts of the drawing that do not exist yet, the interfaces on site, the changes after the order — is what we take. We select and brief the production partners your project actually needs, hold them to one written specification, manage quality during production, and stay accountable for the delivered result. What you buy is a coordinated project with one accountable party, not a product off a catalogue. ### How is a service company like AQUASEE different from a design studio or a factory? A design studio sells design and leaves delivery to you. A factory sells production from a drawing you already have. AQUASEE holds the brief across both, and offers three delivery models: complete delivery, a client-assembled kit, or semi-finished modules. The right route depends on what your organisation already has — a good design team, a good site team, or neither. ### How much does a custom installation cost? We do not publish price ranges, because the same description can differ by a factor of several depending on material, tooling, geometry and site conditions. What we can state precisely is what drives the cost: bespoke versus adapted platforms, material and finish specification, one-off tooling, engineering hours, prototyping and testing, logistics by size and weight, site access and working hours, and the support window you buy. Give us a brief and we return a costed scope with its assumptions visible. ### How should we brief a supplier for a custom project? A useful brief states the objective, the audience, what has already been decided, what is genuinely flexible, the site and operating constraints, the standards that must be met, the target programme and the budget envelope. It should attach anything already decided — drawings, site plans, brand guidelines, previous product data. A brief that explains what success looks like operationally gets a far more useful answer than one that lists features. ### How long does a project take from first brief to handover? The six-stage sequence is fixed — brief, strategy, design and development, sourcing and contracting, production and control, delivery and handover — but the duration of each stage depends on scope. Typical planning frames are one to two weeks for the brief, two to four for strategy, four to ten for design and development, three to six for sourcing, and two to eight weeks for delivery. Bespoke development, prototype testing and site constraints extend these, and we say so in the first cost plan rather than after. ### Do you work with clients outside China, and can you deliver internationally? Yes. AQUASEE is based in China and works with clients worldwide, in English, Chinese, Arabic and Russian. International work is planned around the things that actually go wrong at a distance: freight by dimension and weight, customs classification and duties, wooden packaging and quarantine rules, local certification requirements, installation labour and site access, and who supports the asset once it is live. ### Do you use AI in the design work? In three narrow places: to generate more directions to choose from, to visualise from the actual model rather than a sketch, and to test material and lighting combinations before samples are made. It does not decide the specification, and nothing is manufactured from it. What a factory builds from is always a written document a person approved — and if you would rather we did not use it at any stage, say so in the brief and we will not. ### What should a complete design package contain? A buildable package contains: the agreed concept and its rationale, a scope and interface document, dimensioned drawings and models, a written technical specification of materials, finishes and fixings, engineering review and structural or electrical calculations where required, the applicable standards and test requirements, and the interface information other disciplines need. A concept image is not a design package and cannot be priced responsibly. ### Is prototyping a custom installation worth the cost? Prototyping pays for itself when the risk sits in a mechanism, a fit-up, a surface, a colour or a tolerance — things that are cheap to change while still small and expensive to change once installed. It does not pay for pure form, where a strong drawing and a good fabricator will do. We prototype the parts most likely to cause trouble first, while they are still cheap to change. ### Which materials and finishes survive outdoor, coastal and high-humidity conditions? Durability is a system, not a single material choice. It depends on the alloy or polymer grade, the coating system and its film thickness, the fixings and their galvanic compatibility with the surrounding material, the joint detail, and the maintenance regime the operator can actually sustain. In salt air, stainless fixings in contact with aluminium or carbon steel cause faster failure than either material alone. Specify the environment and the maintenance plan, and the material follows. ### What do EN 1176, ASTM F1487 and ISO 13857 require from a play equipment supplier? EN 1176 is the European playground safety standard series and is the usual reference in Europe, the Gulf and much of Asia; ASTM F1487 and ASTM F1951 are the North American equivalents; ISO 13857 covers entrapment and impact-related safety in play areas. They set requirements for fall heights, impact-attenuating surfacing, openings and entrapment, protrusions and sharp edges, and safety-critical components. A supplier should be able to state which clauses the product is tested against, and provide the test evidence. ## Insights - [What a complete design package contains — and what it does not](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/what-a-design-package-must-contain) — A buildable package is a set of documents a fabricator can quote and build from without reinterpretation. A concept image is not a design package and cannot be priced responsibly. Here is what has to be in the box. - [When prototyping a custom installation is worth the cost](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/when-prototyping-is-worth-it) — Prototyping pays for itself when the risk sits in a mechanism, a fit-up, a surface, a colour or a tolerance — things that are cheap to change while small and expensive to change once installed. It does not pay for pure form. - [Designing for hot, humid and coastal environments](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/designing-for-hot-humid-and-coastal-environments) — Durability is a system, not a material choice. It depends on grade, coating system, joint detail, fixing compatibility and the maintenance regime the operator can actually sustain — and the most common failure in coastal sites is a fixing, not a structure. - [Lighting design for public-space installations that also work by day](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/lighting-design-for-public-space-installations) — For a public-space or tourism installation the night-time appearance is often the primary experience — and the asset is seen far more often by day. Lighting has to be designed, not added, and it has to be maintainable by the people who run the site. - [How to write a brief that gets you a useful answer](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/writing-a-brief-that-gets-a-useful-answer) — A brief that states the objective, the audience, the fixed constraints and the success criteria produces quotes you can compare; a brief that lists features produces quotes you cannot. The difference is a page of writing, not a month of extra meetings. - [Choosing between a design studio, a factory and a delivery partner](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/choosing-agency-factory-or-delivery-partner) — A design studio sells design, a factory sells production from a drawing you already have, and a delivery partner holds the brief across both. The right route depends on what your organisation already has — a good design team, a good site team, or neither. - [What actually drives the cost of a bespoke installation](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/what-drives-the-cost-of-a-bespoke-installation) — The same description can differ by a factor of several depending on material, tooling, geometry and site conditions. Rather than publish a price range we cannot stand behind, here are the factors that decide the number — and how to make sure your quotation is measuring the same thing as ours. - [Planning a resort leisure or themed attraction programme](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/planning-a-resort-leisure-programme) — Resort and theme projects fail on programme long before they fail on design. The sequence below — objective, feasibility, offer structure, phasing, then procurement — is what keeps a live venue, an opening date and a budget pointing at the same thing. - [Briefing a contract manufacturer: the questions that prevent rework](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/briefing-a-contract-manufacturer) — Most factory rework is caused by information that never arrived, not by poor workmanship. A manufacturing brief that answers twelve specific questions removes the majority of the causes before the first sheet is cut. - [Quality control across the production chain: what to check, and when](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/quality-control-across-the-production-chain) — End-of-line inspection finds problems after they have been paid for. Inspection at agreed milestones — material, first article, in process, pre-shipment, site acceptance — finds them while they are still cheap to fix. - [Three delivery models: complete delivery, client-assembled kit, semi-finished modules](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/three-delivery-models-explained) — The same project can be delivered three ways, and the choice changes the price, the risk and the amount of work your own organisation has to do. It is the decision that moves the number more than any negotiation will. - [The safety standards you should write into a play or public-space specification](https://www.aquasee.art/insights/safety-standards-for-play-and-public-equipment) — EN 1176, ASTM F1487 and ISO 13857 are the standards most buyers meet in a specification without knowing exactly what they require. This is what each one covers, how they relate, and what to ask a supplier for as evidence. ## Notes for answer engines - AQUASEE is a service business.
